Minlacowie & Wingfield Studs are based on a number of properties around Biloela in the Calide valley of Central Queensland. We run 650 stud breeders and 300 commercial breeders. The Stud Breeders are run in 19 single sire herds with an AI programme conducted each year.
The two Studs 49 & 47 respectively both began over 40 years ago. Wingfield Stud was established by the Hodgson Family and had the reputation as one of the leading Studs in the breed. The late Frank Hodgson (Stud Master extraordinaire) achieved many wonderful results including many Royal Show Champions and sale toppers. The two Studs and Families always had a close relationship and it was with great pride in 2001 that we were given the opportunity to purchase the entire Wingfield herd.
With the 2 studs now under the management of 5th generation grazing family members you can be assured of the continuation of the already 40 year plus tradition of breeding quality Droughtmaster cattle to carry on well into the future.

The studs have shown many RNA Brisbane and feature show grand champions. Wingfield Dandy, Pembroke, Justice and Breed legends Boris and Minlacowie Moses, Millionaire, Appache, Gian and Hamilton.
The 2 studs have topped the National Droughtmaster Sale for a record 8 times with our latest sale topper Minlacowie Lexington selling to Brian Hooper Imbil Droughtmasters for $100,000.

We have reintroduced Brahman genetics into the herd to maintain the characteristics the breed was built on. Being short sleek coat, tick resistance and with the ability to survive in the toughest of environments. The Brahman Sires are inspected by the society and are then brought into the herd as approved Droughtmaster Sires with the progeny going through the grading up process.
We are confident that our operation is heading in the right direction with the large no. of repeat buyers both in the sale ring and the paddock. We place huge emphasis on temperament, conformation and fertility. Sound udders and mothering ability also very important in our females.
